Talks
We are pleased to announce our Talks for 2026
January 9th (Friday at 14:30) Beside the Seaside by Sheila Willis

Join us for a lively talk which will take us on a nostalgic trip down to the sea and sand, as our Speaker, Sheila Willis, covers the evolution of the iconic British seaside holiday; saucy postcards, penny arcades, beach huts and donkey rides, to name just a few.
With crisp January days, we’re sure the Talk on Summer experiences will give us a warm and enjoyable afternoon.
Sheila Willis grew up by the sea, where her parents owned a seaside café. She later joined the police force but has always retained her love of the seaside.
February 6th (Friday at 14:30) A Year in the Life of a High Sheriff by Dr Tim Fooks

Join us for our February Talk, whereupon you will learn what it means to be a High Sheriff, the role and responsibilities that are performed and the origins of the post.
Tim is serving as High Sheriff for a second time, being the first person to hold the role twice in Sussex since 1551, and the first Medical High Sheriff. He has recently retired as a GP in Pulborough, after practicing for 30years. Tim has held several health leadership roles in West Sussex and recognised for his national work to promote the early detection of sepsis in children.
